Introduction

Our client is a leading provider of audit and inspection services to the primary industry sector. They take pride in the quality of services they offer to their clients. Covering a broad range of regulatory and audit system requirements, their diligent and dedicated audit team works with a diverse mix of clients including exporters, importers and treatment providers in order to facilitate the movement of goods along the border biosecurity pathway and the consequent certification of their goods.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the business for a talented and committed Auditor to be part of a great team providing audit services to national clients intending to gain or maintain approval under the MPI regulations. Background knowledge and working experience in the forestry and or timber processing sector as well as a working knowledge of timber treatments would be an advantage as you will be assisting valued clients operating mainly in the forestry and timber sectors, though if you have an auditing background in the Primary Industry Sector, you are encouraged to apply.

Preferably, the role will be based in Hamilton, however for the right candidate it could be based in Auckland or other regions. You will provide services to clients mainly in the North Island region; hence there will be some travel involved. Key to your success in this role will be your approach to technical aspects and commitment to procedures along with excellent communication skills where you will     have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse personalities.

Requirements

Key responsibilities for this role will include;

  • Lead and develop the Forestry Inspection Programme and Biosecurity Treatment Programme.
  • Perform evaluations and systems audits concurrent with diligent documentation.
  • Provide technical support to certification and inspection teams.
  • Client management and reporting.
  • Staying abreast of new standards and MPI legislations that impact on service delivery.
  • Focused on process development and continuous improvement with a flexibility and willingness to comply with change in processes.
  • Manage operations within approved budget and ensure adherence to Health & Safety protocols within the organisation as well as at client sites.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A tertiary qualification with a professional background in Primary Industry. Knowledge and experience in the forestry/timber sector is highly desirable.
  • Lead Auditor qualification with a minimum of 2 years audit and/or compliance experience.
  • Proficiency in quality systems and audit process.
  • Understanding of import/export requirements
  • Be highly organised, self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
  • Strong report and technical writing skills where you have a great attention to detail and are competent in meeting deadlines. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Well-developed communication skills where you have the ability to carry out effective negotiations and manage complex situations.
  • Flexibility to work off hours and in challenging work environments.
  • A positive and team friendly attitude where you are a ‘people person’.
