Introduction

Our client is a leading distributor of an international and well-respected range of Sewer Pumps servicing both the commercial and domestic sectors throughout New Zealand.  Through organic and strategic growth our client is expanding their team and this position will fulfil a pivotal entry level Technician’s role where you will be customer facing.

This is a stunning and rare opportunity for a person who is naturally talented with great basic electro/mechanical knowledge – a ‘hands-on’ practical person who has great nous in dismantling and putting together mechanical items.  You will need to be able to demonstrate your natural flair and enthusiasm to secure this role which has a diverse mix of duties.  We are seeking a genuine, honest and hardworking person who is quick to pick up processes and knowledge along with being detail oriented and meticulous to ‘get it right’.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Responding to telephone calls from customers (Homeowners, Councils and Contractors) requiring service work on their pumps which involves site visits, diagnostics and repairs and/or organising for pumps to be shipped to the workshop for repair.
  • Provide training and installation support to installation contractors following through to taking responsibility for inspection after installation and start-up testing.
  • Installation and commissioning of systems at various sites throughout the territory.
  • Receiving product into the warehouse, co-ordinating inwards and outwards goods management and associated support paperwork as well as the assembly and testing of components in the warehouse.
  • Attending to rostered after-hours service calls on evenings and weekends and if required visit the site.

To be considered for this role you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Be a self-motivated person with a positive attitude combined with a high level of integrity.
  • Experience in repair & service of small appliances or mechanical products, ideally with electrical (EAS) or plumbing training a plus.
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role where you have demonstrated your sound technical and practical knowledge & you have the confidence and skills to be able to provide effective and efficient customer service and problem solving.
  • Quick to pick up technical knowledge and highly accurate with great attention to detail.
  • Meticulous working habits with excellent record/document maintenance.
  • Able to work with a high degree of autonomy utilising your good common sense.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both written and oral with the ability to relate to diverse personalities and demonstrate enthusiasm at on-site service.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Well presented, physically fit and a clean full NZ driver license.
  • Eligible to work and live in New Zealand.
