Introduction

Our client is a national leader in their niche market, where they design and manufacture technologically advanced, customised fire protection wood products. They now seek a ‘hands on’ maintenance engineer to ensure the availability and reliability of plant equipment in a cost-effective and efficient manner while adhering to robust safety standards.

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you’ll need to maintain a working knowledge of all the relevant joinery machinery, equipment and technology. You will focus on continuous improvement opportunities in our plant and in our processes as well as assisting in improvement initiatives around product quality.

While your primary responsibilities will be centred on maintenance, you will also be expected to learn the operations of CNC/PLC operated machines to gain a deeper understanding about the machinery. You must be passionate about quality and be “hands-on” with the general upkeep of the manufacturing plant.

Reporting to the Factory Manager, it’s a great opportunity to learn and grow your skills in mechanical & electrical maintenance along with opportunities for leadership and career progression.

Further attributes required for this role are:

  • Trade qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering. Electrical skills are desirable, though supervision is also available to develop your skills.
  • Previous maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience in woodworking/cabinetmaking/joinery sector advantageous.
  • A level of knowledge around PLC/CNC/Automation
  • Diagnostic and fault-finding expertise, where you are experienced in Root Cause Analysis.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined and good attitude towards the job
  • Be punctual, (on arrival for work and during breaks) and work the hours and times specified.
  • Support and assist in the development of a positive workplace culture.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • IT Literate with excellent communication skills both written & verbal.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate through your own actions a commitment to Health and Safety
  • Work in a team oriented manner, assisting others as and when possible.
