Our client is a highly established New Zealand organisation marked for their ethics and reliability.  With over 20 years’ experience they specialise in the distribution and of a wide range of premium quality laboratory instrumentation and consumables. Their comprehensive product range extends nationwide where they support Research, Clinical and Industrial applications such as food, pharmaceutical, routine diagnostic and medical laboratories.

This is a leadership role for an experienced Service Technician who is confident in handling end-to-end service operations as well as management of the service division. You will be intrigued and motivated to support business growth and implement development strategies where systems and trainings are envisioned for the long run.


Fundamental to your success will be your hands-on service and repair experience, technical understanding and impressive ability to problem-solve in order to deliver top quality customer service. With emphasis on progressing into a sales focus, you will endeavour to support the Technical Sales team with your market understanding. You will not hesitate to find solutions to optimize their existing product line and increase business potential in note of evolving trends.

To be suitable you will meet the following prerequisites:

  • Tertiary qualification in Science or related discipline
  • EAS/ EST certified with hands-on service experience
  • Proven technical understanding of laboratory and industrial instruments, or transferable repertoire of skills
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical service and repair in refrigeration, pumps, vacuums, freeze dryers or other scientific lab equipment.
  • Impressive communication  and customer service skills
  • Passion for business development, sales and building client relationships
  • Strong ability to self-manage and be results-orientated
  • The ability to travel on occasion

Main responsibilities:

  • Investigate and resolve technical issues, responding promptly to customer enquiries, either face to face, via telephone or email
  • Manage the service division on an end-to-end basis, including initiating quotations, organising contracts, record keeping and budgets
  • Technical understanding of a range of laboratory instruments, with detailed diagnostic and problem solving skills
  • Manage installations and train customers on-site
  • Keep up with the evolving market and new product launches
  • Identify qualified leads that translate into business growth

Based in Auckland, the Service Manager will devise and carryout systems in place for the profitable growth of the service division. On offer is complete expert training for areas in need of support, although you will already have gained excellent experience and core skills to work autonomously as Service Manager. Alongside this exciting opportunity to join their talented team is also an attractive salary package.
