Our client is an instantly recognised market leader specialising in the supply of a wide range of Chemicals and Polymers into a diverse mix of industry sectors, with a focus on the coatings sector.  Since the company’s inception over 50 years ago, they have become specialist suppliers and distributors across Australasia.

This is a rare and stunning opportunity for an experienced Technical Sales Specialist who had background experience in the sector, ideally as well a tertiary qualification in chemistry, plastics technology or other relevant discipline. Alternatively you may have the technical expertise pertinent to this role and you are highly driven and well positioned to secure a sales role.

This is a critical role to our client’s business where your key focus will be to market the company’s comprehensive and well respected range of specialty chemicals and polymers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage and further develop an existing client base while also remaining focused on new business development opportunities in the marketplace.
  • Strategise and implement Account Plans and Business Plans aligned to Budgets.
  • Effective management of your territory.
  • Conduct market research and remain informed on industry knowledge, new product development and competitor activity.
  • Develop effective and well respected relationships across all levels of your customer’s business where you will optimise growth and deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Complete win/win negotiations where the company’s profit margin is retained and facilitate sustainable and profitable business relationships.
  • Manage stock requirements and understand the financial implications of stock turn.
  • Liaise with internal teams and overseas Product Managers to develop joint Sales Plans that are key to the continued success of the business.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports on sales activity.

To be considered for the role, you will need to possess:

  • Enviable communication and sound interpersonal skills, where your track record reflects you are a high performer who has proven to be a ‘winner’ and earned respect from your customer base.
  • “Business Savvy” – accomplished Account Manager/Relationship Manager as well as capable Business Developer; or you are technically adept with a true passion for sales.
  • Able to quickly ascertain viable opportunities and understand business implications of actions.
  • Ability to identify new opportunities and demonstrate financial awareness.

We are seeking a person who has a Tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Plastics Technology or related discipline. Also required is sound numeracy and literacy skills, Full NZ Driver’s License and competent IT skills – Microsoft Word & Excel (Intermediate Level).
